The Tunnels
The quiet the lost, the halls forgot
The slouching engines growl
The long, dark land, the lost enchant
In the under, in the underground
The concrete deep which breathes beneath
Where half mad creatures prowl
The tribes and ones who’ve not seen the sun
In the under, in the underground
In the under, in the underground
Lost streams flow in dark below
Where eyeless sailors drown
Forgotten gods and faeries lost
In the under, in the underground
— The New Albion Radio Hour, A Dieselpunk Opera, Act 2 Song 5, The Underground by Paul Shapera
You wander winding darkness, light long forgotten. On your left you feel a door handle. It only takes a moment before the door clicks open, and you're faced with the dim glow of a lantern. There's even some supplies nated as free to use. Blankets, food, books.
And a map on the table, drawn neatly on faded paper. Crayon-coloured lines waver and dance over the page, showing routes through the maze of tunnels.
There's a scrap of paper beside the map that's been written on by multiple people.
Why are we in the Tunnels?
There's a lot of cool stuff beneath the tunnels. You can get basically anywhere. Admittedly it's a little darker than I was anticipating.
maybe I should have set up in the park instead...

Roseleaf Tea[The egg] must be placed on a nest of live coals, which must be kept burning during the incubation period of 36 months. [...] Help Baby hatch by smashing the shell with a sledgehammer. Do not repeat once Baby is born. People in this out the way corridor speak with an odd, musical lilt. They glare at you more if you try to copy their words than if you don't, as if you're saying something horribly offensive without realising. |

Fools404and what, actually am I? The question of 'What lurks behind a door?' As you walk tunnels twist and wind and change and shift. You find a wooden door with a bright room with a desk and diary inside. You sit down and take a respite from the tunnels that you have lost yourself in. |

Berry BamblzIn the deepest darkness, there are beasts who wear faces stolen from your memories and pluck at the strings in your heart. The doorknob turns without you having laid a finger on it- and you gaze out into the room beyond which is barely a room at all. The darkness watches you just as intently as you watch it. |

Mr. WibbleMy struggles had a happy ending As you walk, you encounter a crossroad in the tunnels. To the left, you hear a slight musical hum and feel vibrations through the air. To the right, you smell the faint scent of cooked meat, one that you can't describe. The clinking of cutlery against plates echoes down the right tunnel. You sit on the ground, unable to decide which way to go. |

Sole requirement: Be friends with an existing member of the webring.
