I keep finding blossom on my car when I go out. Lots of blossom in fact. Admittedly this is one of the downsides of parking under a tree, however. However. It's the middle of winter here, I'm in England.
I've reorganized the file structure of my blog though so that's fun.
Oh, And! I have graduated. I wasn't able to attend my last graduation, so attending graduation for my masters was a new, chaotic experience for me. It was great. I never want to attend a graduation ceremony again. 💛
The passage of time is relentless. If I'm lucky, I'm a quarter of the way through my life. I'm a creative. I love making art, writing, coding, playing music. Constructing entire worlds. I create, and create, and create, and yet. how much of what I create have I released. I tried to sew a dress when I was 13-ish? Where is it now? I certainly never wore it, since I never finished handsewing even two of the pieces together. I cut them out. I wonder where the fabric went. I haven't posted on AO3 since January. Looking through my art archives I haven't regularly posted art since 2020 and most of that is fanart.
I am a creative with very little to show for it.
Admittedly, part of the reason my creative output has dwindled is that I've spent the last two years doing a masters degree and that does take time. And now I'm looking at a PhD. So the amount of art I've put out into the world has decreased, I'm not expecting to put out the amount of art I was making in 2019, 2020, etc. But I've never been good at finishing things. For every piece posted there's more than a few forgotten. That isn't new for me. It bothers me more the older I get, though.
It's distressing. I'm a creative with a very small body of original creative work. What the fuck.
My 2026 goals include reading more (to get back into that because I don't. To be honest I don't read as much fanfiction lately either. I used to devour books) and a handful of goals for creative output. Releasing a game (or demo) by the middle of the year and making at least one original piece of writing. And if I hit those goals, I'll be happy. But, I need to figure out how I'm going to do that.
So. I've decided that rather than trying to chip away at all my projects at once, I'll be working one one creative project at a time from now on. How to fit my big worldbuilding project into this resolution? My current plan is to have a period of time next year dedicated solely to building the most important parts of the world. During this time I plan to write a collection of short stories set in the universe, which I will then release all together. Then, I will return to my games set in the world and continue worldbuilding when my projects require further detail.
Truly if there was a prize for jumping into something one is woefully unprepared for, I would definitely be ... a contender, at least. I don't think I'd win.
Anyway my history with TTRPGs is the following: A oneshot at the asylum steampunk festival in Lincoln several years ago; My friend's long running All Flesh Must Be Eaten campaign that I barely participated in but is several seasons long and has been in hiatus since August.
Truly, is there anyone in the world more qualified to be the GM for Must Be Tuesday?
Well I do have the childhood BTVS obsession, so there's that going for me. Anyway, session 0 is the 21st, which, coincidentally, is the day I'm planning on posting this blog.
