I literally finished my last book this morning. Which means I'm beginning my whole six books thing today. Very exciting. I've been meaning to read Lost Fables for a while now.
Now that I'm here in January, I'm itching for a daily thing to keep me going. So, yesterday, I started Conlang Year. I'm technically doing it just for me, but I've decided to put the stuff I'm doing here on the website. The conlang I'll be working on is a revamp of my first ever attempt at one, repurposed for my original worldbuilding. Which brings me to a small problem I have when working on my worldbuilding. That is: Nothing has a name. So when I want to talk about a thing I have to describe the other things I'm referencing, and it can feel really silly. "Here's a piece of fruit. Here's how people eat it. It's from the country that started the war that caused that other country to resort to necromancy which is not remotely relevant to the conversation at hand but none of these countries have names yet." So at some point, I do need to name all these places and things. Which is one of the main reasons I need to work on the conlangs. Hence: Conlang Year.
More pressing, if I'm going to have that demo released by June, I need to make a plan for what needs doing and how long I have to spend on each task. My main goal for this January is to make this plan.
In other news, I've signed up to a music theory course (specifically for songwriters) so I spent today looking into basic music theory in preparation. I'm enjoying it. Hopefully this will count towards my goal of 'participate in a thing that forces me to socialize' but since it's an online course I'm not sure.
